    Re: DavidG's Sprint Training Log

It doesn't look like your training is setup to run fast times in the 100m. I think with a few races your 400m PB would drop a bunch right now though.

Re: gay 19.7 in clermont 5/11

Interesting. I'm guessing he's in pretty heavy training right now based on time of year.

Re: Technical advice for a young hurdler?

It is very common for hurdlers to practice lower heights to get used to the rhythm/timing/feeling of going faster. My hurdlers are on low hurdles (or spaced closer) at least half the time.

    I think...

    Re: how many steps

Janic you rounded 0.248/stride to 0.24 before multiplying by 49. Without the rounding, you get 12.15 (or a quarter of a second savings).

    Re: how many steps

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a 12.4 girl is about 50 steps. If we assume the stride lengthens for good reasons (so her frequency doesn't change), that's good for a 2% savings, so about...

    Re: 2013 Jamaica invite

Gay's performance was incredible. If I had to bet right now, I'd lean towards him for Moscow over the injured Jamaicans or Gatlin/Dix.

Re: what to do for soleus strain?

I would recommend that she take at least 1 week off, then ease back into things. When are your important meets this year? She can do some bike workouts while she stays off it, though I've found that...

Re: slow first 200m of season

Step-over means to have the foot of your trail leg "step over" something that might be under it. The foot of the trail leg should come through around the height of the support knee. Step-over and...

Re: Technical advice for a young hurdler?

I actually thought your trail leg was fine, it's your trail arm that I think is causing you problems. Your trail arm seems to hover right next to your hips, when it should be going much further back...

Re: slow first 200m of season

    It sure doesn't. :)

I like having my athletes accel pretty much all out (if they are capable of doing this without tensing up), but around 30m stop the accel and hold their current speed until...

    Re: DavidG's Sprint Training Log

Due to the high forces required to change the direction of arms (and legs), they will open past 90 at the back, and close under 90 in the front for pretty much every runner out there. Doing drills at...

    Re: DavidG's Sprint Training Log

Yup. Sort of like your 21.5 vs. 21.7 event, I've seen officials at a small local meet simply make up times because the times for 1-2-3-4 didn't match the finishing order in a close 100m...

  17. Re: Which stopwatch brand ? (Durability, reliability)

I paid about $60 Canadian for mine. Ebay might have stuff too, but looks like your're good. :)
  18. Re: Which stopwatch brand ? (Durability, reliability)

Not sure if this is the functionality you need, but I use a timex ironman triathlon WR 100. I can check on split times while it is still running, save individual sessions up to 100 total splits. It...

How old? Those don't look like numbers for an 'older athlete'.

    How much rest between 150s?
  24. Re: Lee Valley Athletic's Centre Dan Pfaff and Stuart Mcmillan.

My guess would be after a track session for scheduling reasons. If they schedule it on a day by itself, it increases the delay until speed and SE can be done by a day.
