as a life long cyclone fan, that was a really hard loss to take
6 seniors on the team... our guys really gave it up but came up short to what i think is the best, and certainly the hottest team in...
my interest would be to help them be successful at any/all of their sports. we won't be doing any extra jumps in-season. that was a summer program
Well, you're right. The kids want to peak for Football and Basketball and for Track. Then they have the summer off.
Would you consider the summer just GPP? I guess thats how i've approached...
Or maybe something like this:
Mon and Thu
Speed + Weights
Tue
Basketball
Wed
Tempo
yea, but to some extent, as much overlap as possible.
for example, i have toyed with replacing tempo with half court basketball during the summer (to keep the bball coach happy)
Mon and Thu...
How have you handled coaching multi-sport high school athletes? Most athletes I've encountered are 3 sport athletes, with the most common example being:
Fall: Football (Aug 1-Nov 10)
Winter:...

often times, when doing standing starts myself, i get into the "set" position but then when i take off I flex and shift into a new position. Most likely this is due to my body weight being too far...

Because if it is "close enough" so to speak, should it be removed from the program in favor of 2 leg squats?
Hi everyone,
Im looking for advice on becoming a strength and conditioning coach. I am 21 years old with 3 of 4 years complete on a BA degree in Psychology with a minor in athletic coaching from...
sorry for taking over this thread awhile back. it looks like it was decided that RDLs > Dead lifts, at least closer to the season or when squats are included in a weekly workout and demands more CNS...

or perhaps not focus on anything except relaxing and being confident when you are running. if you are training properly, your body should naturally follow with good form in the race.
i went back and searched through the forums and gathered a better understanding of the non-benefits of knee flexion exercises. James Smith wrote some pretty good stuff (as well as many others)

i saw a video awhile back of this guy hanging upside down from his ankles. He was completely extended straight down, and would use his hamstrings to lift himself into a squat position.
If you...
tendon strength/stiffness issues perhaps? Plyometric training and jump training may help?
Also, i feel like i have heavy feet when i am pushing too much and not pulling with my hams
had a 30" vert in high school with a 255 parallel squat max. 200 lbs body weight
bumped up my squat to 315 within 6-8 months after that, but did not see an increase in VJ. However, i did not...
Can i get your guys' opinion on the best substitute for the glute ham raise? (Or the best hamstring exercise in general) I don't have access to a GHR machine.
leg curl
standing or seated good...

Nice! great work man--
