That`s a really good idea. I was not sure about mixing sessions across both programmes, but using KK as a transition to CF sounds smart to me. As a masters athlete myself I have exactly the...
Back to first principles. Why modify a 400m programme for 100 ? Perhaps CF plan is best for 100/200 and KK is best for 400 and we should stick to those principles.
if a 100/200 guy lacks some...
Should have been 7x30 + 4x100. That`s less than 9x100 and you might have spotted the discomfort coming.
I am sounding like someone`s mother !!!!!!
With that said...
Day 5 continued today... :p So are you sure you still want me to repeat Day 5 for the next 2 days? :P
Sounds boring does`nt it !!
Day 5
Day 5 with an extra 4x100...
Repeat day 5 for at least another 2 days. But with addition of say 4x100, then 8 x100. take a rest day. Then go for 16-24x100 - this is a pretty tough protocol unless you get there via a progression....
Dont see why heat disipation is relevant to a sprinter - 5K and upwards yes. But never seen a sprinter overheat/dehydrate.
Probably a power /weight ratio (rather than total size) + stride length...
Pakewi,
How do you find the relatively high volumes of tempo affect sprinting speed. Is it applicable to 400m runners, but perhaps too high a volume for 100/200 types ?
Can anyone think of any top sprinters (the likes of lewis, christie, greene, bailey ....) who improved as a result of an indoor season ? I cant.
Not exactly a list of improving performers is it .............
Ease into speedwork by decreasing tempo distance with increasing speed until you are hitting close to max v. For example, run 200 tempos, then slightly quicker 150s, then quicker 100s and so on. A...
I used to run 800s in the 2.21 to 2.30 range. Managed 62-64 secs for 400m at the same time. But coming off a background of endurance running (10k etc) so lacking pure speed. I agree with the idea of...
Hi Chris - I have no experience of high performance since I am rubbish. Try this link to see if you meet the performance targets.

There is a high performance centre (national level) or the local club.
Eat 3-6 times per day, depending on what you consider to be a between-meals snack. There are 20 other things you could do to improve your performance without fad dieting. Internet is full of crap...
I would do Lyddiard for base training, but I agree not for too long a period. Horwill training for peaking, but with 1 x per week Horwill session duing base period to keep in touch with speed.

These types of sessions build race pace specific speed. They are sustained hard efforts that are relevant to the race distance. 5x1K is "too long" and 8x60m are "too short". They may have a place to...
How true, bottle this and sell it to sports coaches and half the corporate business executives I have ever worked for !!
