Thread: Bolt 9.72 New 100m WR

Hope to come up soon with analysis for the 9.72 vs 9.85 but very busy at the moment.
Last in Osaka 200m final Bolt was timed in 5.69, matching the fastest ever 50m by Gay during the 19.62.

As for SL, Bolt does 41.5 steps, so did Gatlin, who was 10cm shorter as per body height.

Certainly, the strength of his acceleration and maximal speed phases have improved. By the way, I saw some numbers from his 9.72 race on run-down.com. Can't speak to the accuracy of it. I'm certain PJ and others will debunk it.
I can't imagine his 200m success helping his 100m. His pr of 19.75 is good but the speed reached during that race doesn't come even remotely close to that achieved in a 9.7.

That is interesting and I did not expect that!

    split analysis

Is there a complete split time analysis of Bolt's WR?

I believe what is provided below represents that race to-date:

IF and that is a big IF, a 6-4 man can be strong pound for pound and inch by inch as his competitors he should win. You watch, this may be a watershed for taller sprinters.

There doesn't seem to be an ideal body type... just a prerequisite to be lean.
