MONDAY APRIL 9, 2012
IT'S always a sign of things to come when even before the training session starts my training partner, Andrea, and I say to our coach Sharon: "We hate you by the way, just to let you know".
Last Monday was one of those days. It was a session from hell which started with a 300m time trial and was then followed by 3x250m sprints. I only got through two of those before I headed to the bathroom. It was so hot and I just went straight to the shower, still fully clothed, and vomitted. I actually felt like I was going to die.
These killer sessions are part of this current training block. I would love to be able to run through the year without having to do this base stuff and just be fast all the time but that's not how it works.
While the training was tough last week, there was a ray of sunshine through the pain as Kieran and I got to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We didn't do much during the day, I went to training and he actually put down some turf in our backyard.
That night we went out for dinner at the Versace Hotel on the Gold Coast which was very nice and a great change of pace given how the week had started.
